As you want to get the details of eligibility criteria for the Civil Services exam of Karnataka Public Service Commission so here it is for you: Age Limit and Relaxation Age limit – Minimum --- 18 years Maximum --- 33 years Relaxation of age for different categories is as follows:- (i) SC/ST/Cat.I ---- 5 years (ii) 2A/2B/3A/3B ---- 3 years (iii) EX-MP ---- Number of years served by them plus 3 years. (iv) Physically Handicapped ---- 10 years (v) Widows ---- 10 years (vi) In-service ---- No. of years of actual service rendered by them in any of the Departments of Karnataka State or any Dept. owned or controlled by the Government of Karnataka or 10 years whichever is less. (vii) No. of years of service rendered by a candidate who has been released from National cadet Corps.( N.C.C) after service as a whole-time Cadet Instructor. (viii) No. of years of service rendered by the candidate as Village Group Inspector appointed in a Rural Industrialisation Scheme sponsored by the State Government. (ix) No. of years of service rendered by the candidate who is or was a Member or a Staff of the former Maharaja of Mysore. (x) No. of years of service rendered by the candidate who is/was holding a post under the Census Organisation of Government of India or five years whichever is less. (xi) A candidate who is a bonded laborer by 10 years. Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have passed graduation Scheme of Examination Preliminary Examination: (Objective Type) for the selection of candidates to the main examination Main Examination: (Essay Type) for selection of candidates to the personality test Personality Test / Interview: For final selection of candidates to various posts/cadres Preliminary Examination The Preliminary Examination consists of 2 (two) papers with objective type questions (multiple choice) Paper Subject Marks Paper –I General Studies 150 Paper –II One Subject selected from the list of optional subjects 300 Total 450 The question paper would be set both in Kannada and English. The standard of Preliminary Examination is that of degree level. Each paper will be of two hours duration. The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Examination would be 20 times the vacancies notified for recruitment in the order of merit on the basis of the performance in the Preliminary Examination. There will also be provision for reservation for SC, ST and OBC. Main Examination The Main Examination consists of 8 (eight) papers with essay type questions. Paper Subject Marks Paper –I Kannada 150 Paper –II English 150 Paper – III & IV General Studies 300 each Paper – V, VI, VII & VIII Two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects. Each subject will have two papers 300 each Total 1800 The Examination is of conventional (essay) type. The question papers are set both in Kannada and in English. The marks obtained in compulsory papers (Kannada and English) are of qualifying nature. For qualifying in these papers, a minimum of 30% in each paper and 35% aggregate is required. The marks obtained in these two papers are not considered for determining the merit for selection. Candidates who do not secure the prescribed marks in these papers namely, Kannada and English, will not be eligible for personality test and selection. The standard of Kannada and English paper are that of First Language Kannada and First Language English respectively at SSLC Level. The standard of the main examination except (Kannada and English) are that of degree level.
