Re: Element Boran Geo Chemistry
You want Modelling the geochemical cycle of boron so here I am providing you: The knowledge of the evolution of the boron isotope composition of seawater is crucial to reconstruct the paleo-pH of the oceans from the analysis of the d11B of ancient marine carbonates. The boron isotope fractionation between modern biogenic carbonates and seawater is a function of pH (Vengosh et al., 1991; Hemming and Hanson, 1992; Sanyal et al., 1995; Sanyal and Bijma, 1999; Le´cuyer et al., 2002). Therefore, even if the boron isotope fractionation certainly also depends on temperature, boron isotope compositions of past marine carbonates have the potential to provide estimates of variations in the pH of seawater during the last million years (Spivack et al., 1993; Gaillardet and Alle`gre, 1995).
