The Educational Multimedia Research Centre was established in 1996 as Audio Visual Research Centre at the University of Mysore.

The name of AVRC has been changed to EMMRC in the month of August 2004. At Present the center is addressed as EMRC.

It is the only institution of its kind to be established by the University Grants Commission in the entire State of Karnataka.

The EMRC, University of Mysore is currently involved in producing e-content for the following subjects at UG level:

1. Geography

2. Statistics

3. Sericulture

4. Tourism

5. Food Technology

6. Vocational courses (20 subjects)
