The Defence Research & Development Organisation was started DRDO Monographs/Special Publications Series in 1994.

This project is started with an aim to promote the collection of specialised literature in various areas of science and technology having direct relevance to Defence.

Each monograph generally covers detailed and up-to-date information on the subject identified, indicating the current and future trends in the area
