Desert Medicine Research Centre, Jodhpur was established in the year 1984 .

It is an autonomous body for the coordination and promotion of biomedical research in the country.

Thrust Areas—

To study maintenance mechanism of dengue virus and develop surveillance design capable of forecasting impending epidemic situations in Rajasthan .

To study vector bionomics and transmission dynamics of desert malaria and to develop a strategic action plan for its prevention and control.

To study epidemiology of life-style diseases and demonstrate intervention measures for their effectiveness.

To study distribution of nutritional deficiencies and develop locally sustainable intervention programme for their management.
