Re: District Collector Exam Date

The District Collector is a bureaucrat of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). They are responsible for the entire district of a State. They are also the most influential government executives of the region.

The tentative date for District Collector Exam will be May 2015.

Qualifying Exam

The students who aspire to become District Collector are required to write the Civil Services examination that is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

The exam has three parts. They are: Preliminary exam, Main exam and Interview.

The advertisement for the exam is announced in all leading employment news papers.

They are also being displayed in the authorized website of the respective State PSC.

Eligibility

Students who are appearing in the examination are required to be permanent residents of India.

They are supposed to be at least 21 years when they apply.
The minimum qualification required for the candidates to apply is a graduate degree from any background.

Those who are appearing their final year exams are also eligible to appear for the PSC exam.

The candidates have an option to appear for the exam 4 times. (7 times for OBC candidates and no limit for those of the SC/ST category)

Preparation Tips

The candidates need to be well well-versed on all aspects of the society.
They can make preparation by reading newspapers or watching news channels.
Read books on general knowledge and social science a lot.
As the paper will include questions on vocabulary, comprehension, essay as well as précis writing, a good command over the English language is necessary.
The interview is for testing the personality of the aspirant. So, at this time, they must answer in a truthful and unbiased manner.

Question Paper

The main exam held in two sessions.
First Session:
Maximum: 150 Marks: Time: 3 hours.

PART I SECTION A

Write short essays on the following: (3 x 5 =15).
1.Are efforts to revive Nalanda University as a heritage site under the chairmanship of Amartyasen a waste of time and money?

2. Can regional political parties act as a necessary corrective to excessive centralisation of power and authority?

3.Will it be correct to state that the failure of the ideals of ‘Kerala Renaissance’ has resulted in a resurgence of occult and black magic rites in Kerala?

SECTION B
Answer in 2 or 3 sentences: (10 x 2 =20)
