Re: Discover card SCRA benefits

SCRA is Servicemember's Civil Relief Act.

The Service member's Civil Relief Act (SCRA) offers certain benefits for service members who are called to active duty, so that they may devote their full attention to their duties while their family members experience less stress.

Service members and their spouses/domestic partners have earned the following Service members Civil Relief Act (SCRA) benefits for the duration of active duty service:

6% or less annual percentage rate (APR) on Discover card purchases and cash advances
No late fees

This coverage lasts as long as the service member is on active duty—and is even applied retroactively to the active duty start date. Once activated, your SCRA benefits may automatically extend to other Discover products, such as personal loans, home equity, home loans and student loans.

The interest rate charged on the entire balance will be lowered to 5.9% fixed rate on purchases and cash advances. If you have any promotional rates on the account that are lower than 5.9% fixed, they will remain in effect until the promotion expires. Upon expiration, the balance will move to 5.9% fixed APR during the period of SCRA benefit coverage.

SCRA benefits are available to active duty members of the branches listed below:

Army (including Army reserves)
Navy (including Navy reserves)
Marine Corps (including Marine Corps reserves)
Air Force (including Air Force reserves)
Coast Guard (including Coast Guard reserves)
National Guard
Commissioned Officers of the U.S. Public Health Service
Commissioned Officers of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
