The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu has many polytechnic and engineering institutes.


The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu has established 464 Polytechnics colleges in the State which offer following programs in Engineering and Technology streams.

Admissions:
Diploma Courses:

Eligibility:
Candidates, who have done 10th class, can apply for admission in Polytechnic Colleges and who have done 12th class, can apply for Catering Institutions.

Lateral Entry into Diploma Courses:
For lateral entry, candidates must have finished 10th class and 2 years ITI. Such candidates can apply direct for admission in the 2nd year of the 3 year Diploma programme in all Polytechnics colleges.

Post Diploma Courses:
Applicants, who have finished Diploma course, are eligible for applying for Post Diploma courses in respective branches.

PG course admission:
The Directorate of Tamil Nadu provides admission in PG courses of all the institutes of state on the basis of TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test). Here I am attaching a file which has guidelines for PG course admission.
