The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) is a wing of the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, which fulfills the forensic requirements in the country.

Locations of CFSL

There are seven central forensic laboratories in India, at Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Guwahati, Bhopal, Pune.

CFSL Hyderabad is centre of excellence in chemical sciences, CFSL Kolkata (oldest laboratory in India) in biological sciences and CFSL Chandigarh in physical sciences.

CFSL New Delhi comes under Central Bureau of Investigation, Delhi.

These laboratories are under the control of the Directorate of Forensic Science Services(DFSS) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The laboratory in New Delhi is under the control of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and investigates cases on its behalf.

Dr.Rajinder Singh Italic text, is currently Director of CFSL(CBI)New Delhi.

Mr. Mithilesh Jha an alumnus of LNJN-NICFS is working as SSA in serology division of CFSL(CBI), New Delhi, along with other scientists.

Dr. C.N Bhattacharyya is the Chief Forensic Scientist, DFSS, New Delhi.

Sh. P.K Ghosh is in charge of CFSL Kolkata,

Sh. V.Venugopal is currently in charge of CFSL Hyderabad and Sh. Ganjoo is heading CFSL Chandigarh.
