Merchant Navy, as the name suggests, is the term for commercial marine services

Merchant navy includes
Tankers,
Passenger ships and
Carriers

Indian Navy composes of
War ships and
Planes

These are utilized in emergency situations or combat.

Indian Navy:
Initially the salary would be around Rs. 8000 to Rs. 10000/- a month.
Those with more seniority in the field will have a monthly remuneration of Rs. 30, 000.

Merchant Navy:
The initial salary of a cadet will be around Rs 25,000 - Rs 50,000 each month.
Those who are working overseas will have a remuneration of approximately $ 1,500 - $ 2,500 a month.
