BCPL is setting up an LLDPE/HDPE Swing unit which is designed to process 2, 20,000 TPA of LLDPE and HDPE.

About Polyethylene-LLDPE/HDPE:

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer consisting of long chains produced by combing the ingredient monomer ethylene (IUPAC name ethene).

It is manufactured from ethylene through gas phase polymerization in presence of a catalyst such as Ziegler Natta or Chromium (Future) in BCPL.

Properties of LLDPE

Higher tensile strength than LDPE
Exhibits higher impact and puncture resistance than LDPE
Lower thickness film can be blown compared to LDPE
Better environmental stress cracking resistance
Semi rigid, Very tough and weather proof
Good Chemical resistance.

Properties of HDPE

Flexible, Translucent/Waxy and Weather proof

Good low temperature toughness(to -60° C)

Good chemical resistance

Easy to process by most methods and low cost

Application of LLDPE and HDPE:

LLDPE is used for plastic bags and sheets (where it allows using lower thickness than comparable LDPE), plastic wrap, stretch wrap ,pouches, toys, covers, lids, pipes, buckets and containers, covering of cables, geo-membranes, and mainly flexible tubing.

HDPE is used in products and packaging such as milk jugs, detergent bottles, margarine tubs, garbage containers and water pipes.
