Re: Details Regarding IAS Exam

Indian Administrative Services is marked as a category 'A' government service. IAS Exam is conducted by the UPSC .

Eligibility:-


a) The candidate must hold a degree in any stream from a recognized University .

b) Applicants appearing for their final year degree exam are also eligible

A candidate must be of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years.

Age Relaxation:-

(i) five years relaxation for the candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii)three years relaxation for the candidate belonging to Other Backward Classes

Exam Pattern :

Preliminary Exam

Mains exam

Interview

IAS Preliminary Examination comprises of two papers- Paper I and Paper II.

Paper 1 (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs.
Current events of national and international importance
History of India
Indian Polity and governance
Economic and social development
General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that donot require subject specialization
General science.

Paper 2 (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs.

Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy
English language comprehension skills (Class X level)
Logical reasoning and analytical ability

IAS Main Examination Optional Subjects :

(i) Civil Engineering
(ii) Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
(iii) Anthropology
(iv) Botany
(v) Chemistry
(vi) Agriculture
(vii) Commerce and Accountancy
(viii) Economics
(ix) Electrical Engineering
(x) Geography
(xi) Geology
(xii) History
(xiii) Law
(xiv) Management
(xv) Mathematics
(xvi) Mechanical Engineering
(xvii) Medical Science
(xviii) Zoology

Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2015:- 23.08.2015 (Sunday)

Duration of Exam:- 1 Day

Civil Services (Main) Exam 2015:- 18.12.2015 (Friday)
