Patent is a set of rights granted by a sovereign state to an inventor in exchange for detailed public disclosure of an invention for a limited period of time.

Under WTO, Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, patents should be there in WTO member states for any invention in all fields of technology for a minimum period of 20 years.

IPR are the rights given to inventors. They include- copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial design rights, etc.

It is one of the most emerging field.
