The Department of Chemistry, West Bengal State University inducted its first batch of Post graduate students in March 2009. Semester teaching and evaluation is scheduled according to the academic calendar.

The sanctioned faculty strength is 7 and the student intake capacity is 21.

The department offers M.Sc. in Chemistry with three specialisations, viz. Inorganic, Organic, Physical chemistry.

The department also offers Ph.D. in chemistry.
