The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt of India Interdisciplinary Programme of Life Sciences for advanced research and education” (DBT-IPLS) of Patna University is mainly focussed to strengthen Universities for globally competitive emerging bio-economy.

Objective:

The Specific objective is to upgrade the post-graduate teaching and research laboratories in terms of infrastructure and equipment, provide fellowships for students, introduce training programmes

Major research objectives:

A Assessment, maintenance and conservation of Medicinal Plant Biodiversity of Bihar

B Assessment of antimutagenicity of certain herbal extracts in modulating environmental mutagenesis in fishes.

C Exploration of microbial biodiversity in the search of antimicrobial secondary metabolite producers, agro-wastes degraders and biocontrol agents.
