Re: Data Terminal Equipment and DCE

The terms DTE and DCE are extremely regular in the data communications market. DTE is short for Data Terminal Equipment and DCE remains for Data Communications Equipment. As the full DTE name shows this is a bit of gadget that closures a correspondence line, while the DCE gives a way to correspondence.

DTE remains for Data Terminal Equipment, and DCE remains for Data Communications Equipment. DTE is normally either an imbecilic terminal or the serial port on a PC/workstation. DCE is normally a modem, DSU/CSU, or other bit of information correspondences gear, thus the names. This is all the vast majority truly need to think about these terms.

2. The interfacing hardware that might be required to couple the information terminal gear (DTE) into a transmission circuit or channel and from a transmission circuit or channel into the DTE.
