Solvay offers several specialty cross-linking monomers that provide cost-effective solutions for the performance needs of the coatings, adhesives and plastic industries.

CYLINK cross-linking monomers can be used in both emulsion and solvent polymerizations. Solvay specialty monomers include:

CYLINK MBA a by-functional internal crosslinking monomer for effective water absorption, while maintaining high tensile strength

CYLINK NH8 a water soluble wet adhesion monomer designed for interior and exterior architectural coatings; offers stability against homo-polymerization

CYLINK DOM an internal plasticizing monomer used in copolymers with styrene, vinyl acetate, EVA, acrylates and PVC

Properties

N, N'-Methylene bis acrylamide.
A bi-funcitonal internal cross-linking monomer; also capable of free radical polymerization. It can be used to propagate and form extensive polymer networks. This produces application properties such as higher tensile strength, impact modification and super-absorbency. Reacts with alkyd resins and polyesters to form hard resins.
