The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted for recruitment of teachers for classes 1 to class 8 in central/state/UT /CBSE affiliated schools.

CTET certificate is valid up to seven years from the date of release of result. The exam consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Instructions to Invigilators:

The invigilators are required to be present in the examination cell at least 30 minutes before actual start of the examination or as informed by the Chief Superintendent.

The invigilators are required to count the main answer scripts and make sure that the serial number and chief superintendents facsimile on the main answer script are present.

The code books / data books and other books necessary for the examination will be sent to the examination halls. The invigilators are required to count and return the same at the end of the examination.

One of the invigilators is required to check the hall tickets before a candidate enters the examination hall. No candidate shall be allowed to enter the examination hall without the hall ticket.

The invigilators must instruct the students not to keep any printed or written material with them and not to write anything on the question paper which leads to malpractice. The students must be asked to hand over their belongings, not required for the examination.

Paper pattern:

CTET will be conducted at two levels, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to class 5 will have to appear for Paper 1 and those who wish to teach class 6 to class 8 must appear for Paper 2.

In case candidates wish to qualify for recruitment at both levels, he/she can appear for both the papers.

Both papers will have questions of Multiple Choice type (MCQs)
Every question will have 4 alternatives out of which one will be correct
A correct response will gain 1 mark whereas there is no negative marking for an incorrect response.
A separate question paper will be provided for visually impaired candidates.
The duration is 2 hour 30 minutes for each paper.
Differently abled candidates will be given a compensatory time of 50 minutes.
A person with more than 40% disability will be allowed to keep a scribe.
All sections are compulsory in Paper 1 whereas candidates can choose between 2 sections in Paper 2.
Candidates can choose between Mathematics & Science and Social Science in Paper 2.
CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is the minimum qualification for a person to be eligible to be appointed as a teacher in various government and private schools.
