The California State University was founded in 1857, it is a public university system in California and it is one of three public higher education systems in the state, with the other two being the University of California system and the California Community Colleges System.

The CSU IP Sweden program is affiliated with Uppsala University and the program was founded in 1477

Students in the CSU IP Sweden program focus on taking courses from the areas of Humanities and the Social Sciences.

This program is ideally suited for applicants who are doing interdisciplinary undergraduate majors, are double majors or are doing a major and minor in any of the following areas: American Studies, Anthropology (Cultural), Cultural Studies, English or Comparative Literature, European Studies, Global Studies, History, Humanities, International Relations, Languages/Linguistics, Liberal Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science and Social Science.

Students must have junior status and must have Minimum 2.75 GPA and be enrolled at a CSU campus no later than spring term prior to departure
