Re: Criteria for Admission in Shri Ram College of Commerce

Commerce education in India started in 1886 with the foundation of a business school in Chennai (recent Madras). Shri Ram College of Commerce set out on its voyage ahead of schedule in the year 1920 when upon the arrival of Basant Panchmi, seven driving representatives in Delhi set up the Commercial Education Trust.

In 1926, the Commercial College got associated to the University of Delhi. After six years, it was moved up to the status of a Degree College and began granting its graduates the B.A. (Pass) (Commerce Group) Degree of the University. The B.A. (Respects) (Commerce Group) Degree was presented in 1943. That year saw the presentation of M.A. (Financial aspects) course, trailed by the presentation of Master's degree in Commerce in 1948.

In 1951, on the event of its Silver Jubilee, the Commercial College chose to represent considerable authority in the field of trade and financial matters and thus rechristened itself as Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in acknowledgment of the commitment made by its organizer Sir Shri Ram. At long last, the B.A. (Respects) Economics course was presented later in 1958.
