Criteria for admission in IIT Mumbai

I have completed M. tech now I want to take admission in the PHd course from the IIT Bombay? Can you please tell me about the IIT Bombay PHd course admission Criteria? Also tell me about the entrance for admission?

IIT Mumbai Conducts Entrance Examination for admission and pre-qualification of students for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

JEE (Advanced Joint Entrance Examination) for the B.Tech programme

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) for M.Tech and PhD programmes

CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design) for M. Des and PhD programmes

JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.)


Eligibility criteria:

Candidates applying for the admissions should have acquired a first class degree or they should have obtained at least 60 per cent (55 per cent marks for SC/ST) in BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering)/M.Sc/ MCA/MBBS/M.Pharm/B.Pharm (four year degree)/BDS (4 year degree)/associate membership examinations


Application fee:

Candidates will be required to pay an application fee in the following format:

GN/OBCÂNC male candidates: Rs 300

Third gender (T) candidates: Rs 300

GN/OBCÂNC female candidates: Rs 150

SC/ST male candidates: Rs 150

SC/ST female candidates: Rs 150


Selection process:

Candidates will be short listed on the basis of their GATE score.

Candidates having an IIT B.Tech degree and having a CGPA/CPI score of 8 on 10 are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification.
