Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) is a public institution established in 1994 by the Government of India. It is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology established in India. It is officially recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the government of India.


At present it has 11 departments and 5 inter-disciplinary academic centres covering all the major engineering, science and humanities disciplines, offering B Tech, B Des, MA, M Des, M Tech, MSc and PhD programmes.
