The National Defence Academy is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, cadets of the three services, the Navy, the Army and the Air Force train together before they go on to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies.

The National Defence Academy is located at Khadakwasla near Pune, Maharashtra.
National Defence Academy is the first tri-service academy in the world.



Commandant : Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar, AVSM, VSM
AVSM, VSM is an alumnus of 60th course of National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1982.


Deputy Commandant : Major General Ashok Ambre, AVSM, SM
An alumnus of St Aloysius, Jabalpur joined the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla in 1976 and later did his pre commissioning training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

Principal : Prof. Om Prakash Shukla
An alumnus of Allahabad University and Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University is presently the Principal of National Defence Academy since 2011.
