Combined Matric Level Exam - Taken by Staff selection Commission on National Level Combined Matric level exam is held every year for the recruitment of clerks and other lower level staff like a) Grade ‘C’ Stenographers b) L.D.C. c) Grade ‘D’ Stenographers in Customs Houses, Central Government offices/organisations

Eligibility Criteria :

1. Educational Qualification

Matric from a recognized Board or equivalent.

2. Age

18 to 27 years of age

3. Nationality/Citizenship

A citizen of India or
A subject of Nepal or
A subject of Bhutan
A Tibetan refugee

paper pattern :

Exam Paper consists of two steps. In first step preliminary examination is held. Those who are able to clear this test are allowed to take the main examination.

General Intelligence 100

General Awareness 100

Syllabus :

A. General English: In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of the English language and its correct usage, his writing ability would also be tested. Questions on paragraph/writing, report writing/letter writing etc. may be included.

B. General Studies: Question in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Question will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography, economic, scene, general polity, Indian Constitution, scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

C. Arithmetic: Questions of this component will cover number system including questions on simplification, decimals, fractions, LCM, HCF, ratio and proportion, percentage, average, profit and loss, discount, simple and compound interest, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, tables and graphs etc.
