Color Blind Candidate can apply for Civil services or not
Is the Color Blind Candidate are eligible to apply for civil service examination of UPSC ?

Yes you can apply for civil service examination for some posts , but you are not eligible to join IPS academy after having Color Blindness There are no such criteria for Physical Disability or Color Blindness. A colour blind person are not eligible for some civil services exam but in some Civil services exam they are eligible. Vision requirements : Eye sight: Vision should be 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Height – Male 165 cm Male (general) & (SC/ ST/ OBC) – 160 cm Female 150 cm Female (general) & (SC/ ST/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Blood pressure (High) - 123– 127. Education: Graduation pass in any stream from a recognized university No minimum percentage of marks is required in Graduation Age- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years OBC can apply till 33 years SC/ST can apply till 35 years Attempts/Chances: UPSC has also fixed number of attempts General- 4 times OBC-7 times SC/ST-No Restrictions UPSC Civil Services Exams are held in three stages: Prelims MAINS Interview |

There are two types of services offered by UPSC or Union Public Service Commission in Civil service Exam Technical Services 1. IPS 2. IRTS 3. RPF (Railways protection force) 4. Other police services Group A and B Here, you need good eye, the correction is allowed only by glasses / spectacles. Non-Technical Services 1. IAS, 2. IFS (Foreign Service) 3. Other central civil services Here, you don't need good eyes and correction is allowed by spectacles +Lasik surgery, Radial Keratotomy etc. (Medical Tests /Checkup for UPSC IAS/IPS Civil Service Exams) List of UPSC Exams Civil Services Examination Engineering Services Examination(IES) Combined Defence Services Examination(CDSE) National Defence Academy Examination(NDA) Naval Academy Examination Combined Medical Services Examination Special Class Railway Apprentice(SCRA) Indian Economic Servce/Indian Statistical Service Examination Geologists’ Examination(GE) Central Armed Police Forces(AC) |
