Can you tell me about the Objectives & Functions of CMET or K.L. Wig Centre for Medical Education & Technology, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), New Delhi?

The two major functions of K.L. Wig Centre for Medical Education & Technology, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), New Delhi providing in-house Media Production facility to the entire faculty of AIIMS and Faculty Development activities at the institutional, national and regional level.

A senior professor of AIIMS is designated as the Professor in-charge and a middle level faculty member as the Co-coordinator respectively, to provide leadership to the Centre.

A full time Educationist acts as an edge between media production, and faculty development, research and dissemination of information in medical education.

Educational Media Generalist leads the technical staff in-charge of media production in collaboration with a Chief Technical Officer.

A sole feature of the centre is that about 25 faculty members drawn from pre, para and clinical disciplines trained in educational technology serve as the Adjunct faculty of CMET.

The adjunct faculty of CMET is instrumental in serving as educational leaders and agents of change. One meet occasionally, hold faculty development activities, and work towards curricular changes.

Objectives & Functions
• Promote faculty development and develop skills in curricular planning
• Rationalize the use of educational technology for designing effective teaching
• Influence institutional policies for improved educational planning
• Undertake research in medical education
• Act as an advanced center for designing formal instructional course for certification
• Develop database and information retrieval services on various aspects of medical education
• Undertake production of learning resource materials for the training of medical and other health care personnel.
