Re: CLAT Difficulty Level

Common Law Admission Test is a centralised test for admission to 19 National Law Universities in India. 43 other education institutes and two public sector institutes are also eligible to use these scores.

Exam Pattern

Legal Aptitude
Logical Reasoning
English (including Comprehension)
General Knowledge & Current Affairs
Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability)

Difficulty Level of the Exam :

CLAT 2017 was not really a total box of surprises but it still tested the speed of all the candidates at a brow beating level. The speed aspect was definitely a top priority.

All sections had a few goodies to offer and a few questions which were definitely on the path less taken. However, most of the questions were in line with the historical perspective of the CLAT examination.

The difficulty level of the paper was from easy to moderate with rare bouncers in the form of legal maxims and a couple of twisted reasoning questions.

Section Wise Paper Analyses is given by Me For Understanding the Difficulty Level of the Exam

English Section

The English section of CLAT 2017 Exam was reasonably lengthy and the reading comprehension especially was little tricky to read but had the questions been attempted one wouldve found them doable. The grammar section was a mixture of easy to moderately difficult. There were 5 questions each on error detection and on replacement and 10 questions each based on spellings and fill in the blanks.

Maths

We would say that the maths section was not very high on the difficulty scale. There were a substantial number of Questions based on Arithmetic, Percentages, Profit and Loss, Averages, Time and Work and Time, speed and Distance. At the same time, the language of the maths paper was unlike the general run-of-the-mill questions which most students may have found to be slightly tricky.

General Knowledge

Continuing with last years trend, the GK questions in CLAT this year have completely emanated as it included more current affairs questions and less of static GK.

Logical Reasoning

The logical reasoning section was quite light focus on critical reasoning. One of the prominent surprise packages of this years CLAT was the heavy spray of blood relative based questions.

Legal Section

The legal section was once again a testament to past year papers. The bizarre part was the complete absence of the legal GK section and 15 questions on Legal Maxims, surprised many. Around 10 questions were straight forward as it could get but 4-5 seemed a hard nut to crack.
