The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) makes recruitment to Group B (Non-Gazetted) and non-technical Group C Posts in the Ministries/ Departments, attached and subordinate offices of the Government of India; the C&AG and its Accountant-General offices, Election Commission & Central Vigilance Commission.

It is also assigned the task of conducting Departmental Examinations for promotion from Group D to LDC Grade, promotion from LDC to UDC Grade and promotion from Stenographers Grade D to Stenographers Grade C besides holding Periodical Typewriting Tests in English & Hindi.
