The IIT Roorkee has a Department of Chemistry. This department was established in 1960.

The department is providing highest level and quality of academic education.

This department features a 28 member faculty with expertise in frontier areas of research.

The faculty members have contributed towards the publication of over 10 books, 400 research papers and many patents in the last five years (more than 1500 papers in all).

There are about 20 research projects sponsored by various government organizations (MHRD, DST, CSIR, AICTE, DRDO, ISRO) and industries.
