CA Common Proficiency Test is 1st level exam in the series of 3 levels to become a qualified Chartered Accountants.

Level 1 – CA CPT also called CA Foundation

Level2- IPCC also called CA Inter

Level3- CA Final

It has four subjects

Law
Economics
QA (Maths & Statistics)

Fundamentals of Accounting (60 marks) + Mercantile Laws (40 marks)

General Economics (50 marks) + Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts Chartered Accountancy Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT).


ICAI CA CPT Exam Pattern

Pen and paper based

Total Marks
200 marks

Duration of Exam
2 hours for each session; 4 hours in total


ICAI CA CPT Marking Scheme

Every correct response adds 1 mark.

Every incorrect response deducts 0.25 mark.

No response will neither deduct nor add any marks.

More than one response will be considered wrong and marks will be deducted accordingly.
