All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education.
These institutes have been declared by Act of Parliament as institutions of national importance
The Department of Dental Surgery was upgraded to the Centre for Dental Education and Research (CDER) in 2003.

The new building of the CDER was made operational since February, 2008. At present, it has 10 faculty members.

The Centre offers postgraduate degree courses in 4 disciplines of Dentistry,

1. Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics
2. Prosthodontics
3. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
4. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery


It offers PhD courses in the following disciplines.

1. Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics
2. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

It has follwoing departments under it:

Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Deformities
Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry
