Common Admission Test (CAT) is an Competitive Management Entrance Exam Conducted at National Level for Admission to Postgraduate Business Administration Programme and Other programs in various IIT, IIM, NITs and other private management institution .

Exam Pattern :

CAT Exam will be a computer based test.

Test duration will be for 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Extra time will be provided to candidates belong to PWD/DA category.

Language mode of the exam will be English only.

Total number of questions will be 100 and all questions will be multiple choice questions.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation 50
Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning 50
Total 100

For every right answer, candidates will get 3 marks and for every wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted.

There will be no mark awarded for unanswered questions.

Common Admission Test Syllabus :

CAT English/Verbal Ability:


Reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, syllogisms, analogies, antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, idioms, etc.

CAT Maths/Quant Ability:

Number systems, geometry, trigonometry, probability, permutation combination, algebra, mensuration, time and work, averages, percentages, profit and loss, quadratic and linear equations, etc

CAT Data Interpretation:

Interpretation and analysis of data based on text, tables, graphs (line, area), charts (column, bar, pie), venn diagram, etc.

CAT Logical Reasoning:

Clocks, calendars, binary logic, seating arrangement, blood relations, logical sequence, assumption, premise, conclusion, linear and matrix arrangement, etc.
