On successful completion of the SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentices) course you will be posted as Assistant Mechanical Engineer (AME) in Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers.

You will be posted directly as Group “A” officer and after this you can rapidly goes higher up in the ladder to become senior administrators of Indian Railways.

SCRA Apprentices are not only trained at Railways expense, but they are paid stipend at the following rates along with DA applicable:

Year Stipend per month

First Rs. 9100
Second Rs. 9100
Third Rs. 9400
Fourth
Rs. 9400 [First six months]
Rs. 9700 [Last six months]

Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) may be granted leave on full stipend for a period not exceeding one month and shall also be entitled to free medical attendance and treatment at railway hospitals on the same scale as applicable to railway servants
