Can I join merchant navy after completing 12th commerce and ITI?

I have done 12th in commerce and did ITI can I join Merchant Navy. If yes then pls tell me the details.

As you are asking about that can you join merchant navy after completing 12th commerce and ITI. So I am really sorry to tell you that you can not apply for Merchant Navy. The minimum requirement to apply for merchant navy is 12th standard with PCM subjects. But you told me that you completed 10+2 in commerce so there is no scope for you in the merchant navy.


For officer level posts the eligibility is:
A candidate has to pass B.Tech in Marine Engineering or nautical science degree. For B.Tech in Marine Engineering or nautical science degree, you have to complete 10+2 in science stream.

Listed there is also a direct way to get job in merchant navy, but still you need 10+2 in PCM in order to get the job of Deck Cadet..

Eligibility criteria for merchant navy:

1. Minimum qualification requirement is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

2. B.Sc in nautical science or B.Tech in Marine Engineering.

3. Age Limit is 20 years.

4. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

5. Candidate should be unmarried.

6. There is a need to clear medical test.

Direct Entry

Candidates having completed 10+2 in PCM can directly apply for Deck Cadet Job.

If you have completed B.Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology then you can apply for various jobs in merchant navy. Though you need to go through 9 months long pre-sea course in marine engineering from MERI.
