Campus Placements Preparation

Can you tell me where to start preparing for Campus Placements as I do not want to take a chance to miss out this time?

The preparation will start with some survey -

1. Which all companies are visiting the college / university for placements? (Viz. Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, ABB, L&T and so on)

2. What is the recruitment process for each of the company?

3. What is the general intake? For example, there are colleges where the big IT companies recruit in hundreds which will help to decide the level of competition.

4. What are the eligibility criteria to sit for the Placement?

With all of the above information at your disposal, you may start your entire preparation work in following manner –

1. Back to The Roots: Brush up your knowledge of engineering topics - that you've studied over the last 2-3 years. All of your efforts will go waste if you lack the basic knowledge of the subjects.

2. Pick your Favorite Engineering Subject / Topic: Interviewers make their job easier by asking you for your favorite engineering subject. So you need to be really very well prepared to handle this question. Once you tell the interviewers your favorite topic; expect a few questions related to it.

3. Aptitude Tests: This is where the first eliminations will begin - the aptitude tests. It takes it practice. Just keep on practicing and in a month or two - you will be able to solve all the aptitude questions. It requires at least 1.5-2 months is the minimum required time.

4. Written & Spoken English: Indian job markets demand people who can speak and write correct English. You need to sharpen your English speaking / writing skills. It's going to help you in your entire career.

5. Interview (Technical) : If you're good at engineering topics, then cracking the technical interview won't be a problem.
