Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT) Center for Science in Society (CSiS) was established in 1991 under the UGC VIII plan Development Assistance with partial financial assistance from Cochin Refineries Limited.

Government of Kerala has approved C-SiS as a Training Centre for High School science teachers under the prestigious “Sastraposini” Programme.
