The embattled Doe Run lead smelting facility in Peru may finally be getting a break. Dr. Juan Carlos Huyhua is the president of Doe Run Peru, in New York. Three years ago, the plant was shut down by a mixture of politics and litigation. Blacksmith Institute started working in some of the world's worst polluted places, sharing resources and expertise with local groups and agencies to solve pollution problems, clean up polluted sites, and save lives.
