Re: BITS Pilani Hyderabad Mess

BITS, Pilani - Pilani campus has twelve boys' hostels with generally around 230 rooms each (most of them are single rooms and rest are double). They are well known as Bhawans. They are called as Ram Bhawan, Budh Bhawan, Krishna Bhawan, Gandhi Bhawan, Shankar Bhawan, Vyas Bhawan, Vishwakarma Bhawan, Bhagirath Bhawan, Rana Pratap Bhawan, Ashok Bhawan, Malviya Bhawan and Malviya extension. Lately, a new boys' hostel has also been set up for the research scholars.

Talking of the boys' hostels, approximately 80% of the first year students are allotted double rooms and the rest 20% are given single rooms. This allotment of Bhawans and rooms is totally random, irrespective of disciplines.

The mess food in BITS Pilani is certainly nice. There are 2 different messes on campus which serve slightly different cuisine but they generally offer both South and North Indian dishes on most days, which are, by the way, quite tasty enough.

As one goes on eating the similar set of food as scheduled by the mess timetable, they will certainly be dissatisfied and so nostalgia and home sickness kick in, during the middle of the semester leading to further loss of significance in mess food.

The Delicacies at the mess are:
GulabJamun (with/without icecream)
MNBs and Fried Maagi at BlueMoon
GreenField Non Veg Rice (GFNV)
Pineapple Raita at Vijay
PBM (Paneer Butter Masala), Aaloo Matar
GD Non veg Rice- Egg chicken rice at Golden Dragon
Nobles Icecream-
Footlong at Nobles
Sharmaji's Hyderabadi Biryani!
The Onion karam rava masala Dosa

Food at BITS Pilani can be undoubtedly ranked in a decent position when compared to the messes at IITs and NITs.
