Bharathiar University, Coimbatore was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamil Nadu in February, 1982 under the provision of the Bharathiar University Act, 1981.

As per me NASA Exhibition event held at Bharathiar University in 2012, on that time Models of BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system, Solar Viewing Telescope, Scale model of Sun-Earth system from NASA, and other missiles from DRDO and rockets from ISRO displayed for the benefit of students and researchers during the six-day 'Space Festival 2012,' started from July nine.
