The American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists® certifies qualified licensed Professional Engineers recommended by peers in their field of specialty Available Specialties By obtaining certification, you demonstrate competence through comprehensive written and oral examinations in one or more of the following specialties: Air Pollution Control Environmental Sustainability General Environmental Engineering Hazardous Waste Management and Site Remediation Industrial Hygiene Engineering Radiation Protection Engineering Solid Waste Management Water Supply/Wastewater Engineering Minimum Requirements for Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) *Environmental engineers without a P.E. License (BCEEM) may be certified through Eminence. All candidates shall: Have a degree in environmental engineering or related engineering degree satisfactory to the AAEECB. Be persons of good moral character and of high ethical integrity and professional standing, as determined by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers Certification Board (AAEECB) Hold a valid license or certificate of registration to practice professional engineering issued by the lawfully constituted registration board of any State, territory, possession or district of the United States. A valid certificate of registration or license issued by a foreign country may be accepted, provided it meets standards established by the AAEECB. Be professionally engaged in environmental engineering activities on a full time basis. Experience Requirements- Written & Oral Exams Candidates shall have had at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible engineering experience following receipt of a baccalaureate degree or license, A Master's and a Ph.D each count as 1.5 years towards the 8-year requirement for a maximum of 3 years Written Exam Waiver Candidates applying for certification without written examination must have had at least sixteen (16) years of progressively responsible environmental engineering experience |
