Re: Battery Grade manganese ore
As you have asked about the Battery grade manganese ore specifications, I am giving you info about it For this purpose, pyrolusite variety of manganese ore with gamma form is used. Pyrolusite acts as a depolorizer. The ore should have a high content of manganese dioxide and a small amount iron. It should have an appropriate degree of porosity and should be free from copper, nickel, cobalt, etc. The ore should conform to the following specifications for battery industry. Size 200 mesh MnO2 80 - 88 Fe2O3 3% max. P 0.08% max. Moisture 3% max. Electrolytic manganese dioxide is being produced in the country synthetically, which contains a minimum of 90% MnO2 and 0.07% iron. The synthetic material can be produced either from low-grade or high-grade ores. The BIS (IS: 11153 - 1984) has prescribed the following specifications for manganese ore for dry batteries: Characteristics Requirement Type A Type B Type C Manganese dioxide, percent by mass (on dry basis) 72 85 90 Moisture, percent by mass max. 3 3 3 Lead (as Pb), percent by mass max. 0.1 Trace 0.1 Iron (as Fe) percent by mass max. 7.0 -- 0.1 Sulfate (as SO4) percent by mass max. -- 1.5 1.5 Matter insoluble in hydrochloric acid on ignition percent by mass max. 10.00 0.5 0.5 Copper (as Cu) percent by mass max. 0.02 -- 0.002 Nickel (as Ni) percent by mass max. 0.04 0.003 0.003 pH of 5 percent by mass max. -- 4.5 - 6.5 4.5 - 6.5 |

Re: Battery Grade manganese ore
Dear Kiran, You give the specifications for dry-cell batteries. Could you also give the specifications for Mangenese used in Secondary-cell / Lithium-ion batteries such as NMC / MiMH / LMD? Thanks in advance Quote:
