Basaveshwar Arts College, Bagalkot was founded in 1944 by the Sangha with Dr. S. C. Nandimath as its founder Principal. Great scholar teachers like K R Shrinivas Iyengar,Prof K. V. Subbarao,Prof S. N. C. Rao, Dr.R C Hiremath,Prof N R Aparanji and many others began their teaching career in this college. Basaveshwar Arts College is an independent Arts College imparting higher education in 13 subjects for undergraduate courses including two postgraduate courses in English and Kannada literature.
