B.A. 1st year (Monsoon Semester)

Course No. : KR 101
Course Title: Oral Expression -I
Course Credit: 2
Course Content: This course includes teaching proper pronunciation and intonation of Korean sounds to enable them to comprehend and speak simple sentences in Korean language. Some of the things that the students are taught are greetings; self-introduction; identifying things; time of the day; calendar; counting using Korean numerical classifiers; describing things; making comparisons; talking of daily activities; kinship terms used for address and reference; seasons; giving and receiving; shopping; making requests; talking of one's likes and dislikes etc.
Evaluation: Performance in two Sessional Tests out of three (25%), class performance (25%), End Semester examination (50%)

Text Books from Korean Universities, National Institute of Korean Language

Course No. : KR 102
Course Title: Oral Expression-II
Course Credits: 2
Course Content: This course focuses on the listening aspect of the language training in order to strength the abilities of the students to listen, comprehend and interpret the language correctly. This course mainly involves laboratory training sessions. It includes practice in greetings; self-introduction; identifying things; time of the day; calendar; counting using Korean numerical classifiers; describing things; making comparisons; talking of daily activities; kinship terms used for address and reference; seasons; giving and receiving; shopping; making requests; talking on phone etc.
Evaluation: Performance in two Sessional Tests out of three (25%), class performance (25%), End Semester examination (50%)

Course Title: Hangul
Course Credits: 2
Course Content: The course gives a basic introduction to Hangul the Korean script. It starts with vowels and consonants, combinations of double consonants with pachim, and their writing practice. This course introduces basic writing skills to enable students to write Korean alphabets in the right way. It includes exercises in greetings; self-introduction; identifying things; time of the day; writing dates; writing daily dairy, counting using the pure Korean and Sino-Korean counting system, along with the different counting units unique to Korean.

Evaluation: Performance in two Sessional Tests out of three (25%), class performance (25%), End Semester examination (50%)
