The Marine Engineer was born the day the French inventor Deni’s Papin constructed a steam boat powered by his steam engine in 1704.

Here I am giving you details for admission in B. Tech Marine Engineering at Indian Maritime University including fee structure.

IMU offers the following courses for Marine Engineering:

(1)Pre-sea Courses offered are Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering (1 year), B.Tech Marine Engineering (4 years).

(2) Post Sea courses inclusive of Marine Engineer Officer’s preparatory courses, Revalidation courses for Marine Engineers, Simulator courses for Marine Engineers.

(3)Other allied courses inclusive of STCW Modular courses.

B. Tech (Marine Engineering):

Fee Structure:
Rs.2, 25,000/- per year

Age:
Not less than 17 years & Not more than 20 years as on date of commencement of the course.

Marital Status:
Unmarried

Academic:
All Boards (Class XII):
Minimum Percentage – 60%

Admission Procedure:
Interested students may apply online by completing the application form from the website.

Alternatively, students can download the application form and send the duly completed form via post or email: admission.sims@samundra.com.

Student can also contact the SIMS office to obtain a hardcopy of the form. The venues will be announced by respective Exam Centers before 20 days of commencement of entrance exam.

Selection Procedure:
Written Examination:
Applicants are required to qualify in the written exam held at different locations all over India.

Personal Interview:
Applicants are interviewed by a panel of educators and maritime professionals to assess the applicants' communication skills, leadership potential, clarity of thought, maturity and reasoning abilities. The panel also looks for any extracurricular achievements of the candidate.

Medical Examination:
Medical practitioners appointed by the DG Shipping will examine all selected candidates for certifying conformation with the medical requirements as lay down by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Psychometric Test:
Conducted by the certified psychologist
