The one year full time B.Ed. (Special Education) course is recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and approved by School Service Commission (SSC) offered by Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension (DACEE) in the specialization

The B.Ed. Special Education (Mental Retardation) Course has been awarded a special recognition by NCTE.

General Information:-

It is a five-day a week, full time course with classes from 10am- 5.00 pm (Mon-Fri), taught in English and Bengali.
It prepares teachers to work with students aged from 0-18 years who are mentally challenged.
The most important point to note about the course is that it provides comprehensive information about how to teach students who have mental and other associated difficulties such as speech and communication problems, epilepsy, specific reading and writing problems and sensory deficits.
It is recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India and approved by School Service Commission, West Bengal.
There is no age-bar.
The session will be commencing from August.
The Course Fee is Rs. 40,000/-

Course Information:-

The course consists of 8 Theory Papers and 5 Practical Papers:

Theory Papers are:-
(a) 4 Common Core Papers that give a background to education in India and an introduction to Disabilities.
(b) 4 Specialization Papers on Mental Retardation
(c) The Practical Papers include Practice Teaching in Regular and Special School,
Resource Room Teaching, Preparation of Teaching -Learning Materials and
Individualized Education Programme
