Athabasca University is a Canadian university specializing in online distance
education and one of four comprehensive academic and research universities
in Alberta

The Executive MBA is a 48-credit program divided into two phases:

Phase One consists of an orientation, six core courses and a comprehensive
examination (18 credits). This phase provides a solid grounding in general
management fundamentals. Upon successful completion, students may apply
to receive the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Management (PBDM).

Phase Two offers two options for completion. Both options begin with four
advanced management courses (12 credits), followed by either:

-three electives (9 credits), and an applied project (9 credits), or

-six electives (18 credits)



Admission Requirements

-an undergraduate degree from an accredited university, and at least three
years of acceptable managerial experience that may include supervisory or
professional experience with management-level responsibilities;

-OR

-an acceptable professional designation as approved by the MBA Admissions

Committee and at least five years of acceptable managerial experience that

may include supervisory and professional experience with management-level
responsibilities;

-OR

-a minimum of eight years of substantial managerial experience. Applicants
without a degree or designation must first apply to the AU Post-
Baccalaureate Diploma in Management (PBDM) and upon successful
completion, transfer into Phase Two of the MBA program. The PBDM is
identical to Phase One of the Executive MBA.

-a completed application form;

-a detailed resumé demonstrating appropriate management experience;

-three letters of reference, preferably two business and one academic.

-a 1,000 word personal essay;

-official transcripts of post-secondary education and/or professional
designation(s)

Fees

Program application fee (non-refundable), required each time a person
applies: $200

Program admission fee (payable upon acceptance into the program and non-
refundable): $800

Program tuition fees for students living in Canada

Phase One: $17,586

Phase Two Required Courses (regular route): $11,724

Phase Two Required Courses (accelerated admission route): $5,862

Phase Two Online Electives (each course): $2,931

Phase Two In-residence Electives (each course): $3,900

Phase Two Applied Project: $4,512


Other fees

Course withdrawal processing fee1: $350

Comprehensive examination fee (repeats): $250

Program transfer fee: $100

AU Graduate Student Association Fee (per credit): $13

Western Deans' Agreement administration fee (non-AU visiting students)
$250 per course
Transfer Credit Evaluation Fee $250/ credit
Continuation fee: $500
