Assam Down Town University was established through the Assam Down Town University Act, 2010 in the state of Assam, India in 2010. It was established by the down town Charity Trust, which is promoted by Down Town Hospital Limited.

The Department of Pharmacy of the University was set up in 2010, as part of the down town group of institutions, with the Bachelor in Pharmacy Program, after getting due permission from the All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E). The department is also approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and also offers a D.Pharm program.
