Art education in the United States provides studies of the American culture. The art education was strarted from roman period. The Arts Education provides in three levels which are local level, state level and federal level. Hitory 1st Jan, 1825: An Introduction to Linear Drawing translated to English by William Bentley Fowle. 1st Jan, 1848 The Philadelphia School of Design is established by Sarah Worthington Peter. 1st Jan, 1857 National Education Association (NEA) is created. 1st Jan, 1860 Elizabeth Palmer Peabody started the first organized kindergarten in Boston. 6th Nov, 1873 The Massachusetts Normal art school opened. 1st Jan, 1883 The National Education Association (NEA) established a Department. 1st Jan, 1890 Milton Bradley published a book Colour in the Kindergarten Classroom. 1st Jan, 1896 John Dewey begins an experimental school with the aim of allowing children to grow mentally, physically and socially while becoming creative, critical thinkers. 1t Jan, 1897 With Brush and Pencil" Published 1st Jan, 1919 The Progressive Education Association is founded. 1st Jan, 1924 The Beginnings of Art in the Public Schools published the book was the well known book for art education. 1st Jan, 1929 Introduction to Art Education p[ublished 8th Nov, 1929 The Museum of Modern Art is opened for public 1st Jan, 1933 Owatonna program was started in Owatonna, Minnesota. 1st Apr, 1936 Finger paints were introduced to America at the Young America Paints exhibition. 1st Jan, 1946 Highlights Magazine for children published. 1st Jan, 1947 The National Art Education Association was founded. 1st Jan, 1949 The federal government reestablished a position of Specialist in Education for the Fine Arts. 1st Jan, 1958 The National Defense Education Act, NDEA, is passed by Congress. 1st Jan, 1962 CEMREL (the Central Midwestern Regional Educational Laboratory) created an Aesthetic Education Program. 1st Jan, 1968 The number of art teachers graduating from college increased by 200% since the 1950s 1st Jan, 1973 The National Endowment for the Arts wanted to expose all Americans to art. 18th Oct, 1984 W. Dwaine Greer set forth the principles of DBAE (Discipline Based Art Education) in an NAEA research journal. 1st Jan, 2001 Art educators begin to use the term "Visual Culture" to describe thier central point of study. |
