Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) was formed in 1953. The major function of APPSC is to make Direct Recruitment for lecturers, doctors, engineers, deputy collectors, forest officers, police officers, and clerks under the Article 320 (1) of the Constitution of India.

APPSC Group 1 Exam

As per the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission's guidelines, candidates with graduate Degree or those who are in the final year of Bachelor degree program are eligible to apply for the preliminary stage of the Group I exam.

These candidates should be a graduate by the time of application process of the Main Exam. If unable to qualify the final year exam or if could not produce the final year mark sheets or graduation certificate one will not be able to sit for the Main Exam, irrespective of marks in the preliminary stage of Group I exam.

Syllabus of written examination:

Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) - General Studies and Mental Ability

1. General Science – Contemporary developments in Science and Technology and their implications including matters of every day observation and experience, as may be expected of a well-educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
2. Current events of national and international importance.
3. History of India – emphasis will be on broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic, cultural and political aspects with a focus on AP Indian National Movement.
4. World Geography and Geography of India with a focus on AP.
5. Indian polity and Economy – including the country’s political system- rural development –Planning and economic reforms in India.
6. Mental ability – reasoning and inferences.
7. Disaster Management: (Source : CBSE Publications)
1. Concepts in disaster management and vulnerability profile of India / State of A.P.
2. Earth quakes / Cyclones / Tsunami / Floods / Drought – causes and effects.
3. Man made disasters – Prevention strategies.
4. Mitigation strategies / Mitigation measures

1. Comprehension
2. Precis-writing
3. Re-arrangement of sentences
4. Correction of sentences
5. Synonyms
6. Antonyms
7. Filling in the blanks
