Anna University Credits for 1st Semester

Can you provide me the Anna University Credits/ Grades System details as I want to know it before apply for any course in the University, please help me with this?

Anna University Exams are conducted in every 6 months and many students sit for the exams in every semester.

Credits points and Grades Points are provided by the University for the Students.

Credits points 1,2,3,4,6,12 are provided by Anna University under various categories and also Grade Points such as S,A,B,C,D,E,U,I,W are also provided by Anna University under certain categories.

Detail of the Anna University Grades System and Credits System is as follows:

Credit system details for each course (subject/paper)

• A theory course of 45 hours duration – 3 credits.
• A theory course of 45 hours with additional 15 hours of laboratory classes or tutorial classes – 4 credits
• A practical course of 45 hours of laboratory classes – 2 credits
• A practical course of 30 hours of laboratory classes – 1 credit.
• UG project work in the final semester of 180 hours – 6 credits

Masters’ degree project work is divided into two phases

• Phase-I in III semester – 180 hours – 6 credits
• Phase-II in IV semester 360 hours – 12 credits

A Master’s student should obtain about 67 credits to complete his course.

A five-year integrated course has about 219 credits to complete the course

U for fail
W for withdrawal from course
I for prevention cases (shortage of attendance, which is attendance less than 75%.
